Applicant Weekend Event (January 31-February 2, 2025)

Are you an artist interested in learning more about the exciting artistic community in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and the United Arab Emirates?

Are you thinking about pursuing a MFA to become a better art practitioner?

We are offering a handful of students the opportunity to visit us at NYU Abu Dhabi - with flights, lodging, meals, and excursions covered!

The MFA in Art and Media at NYU Abu Dhabi is a terminal degree in the visual arts, designed as a full-time, interdisciplinary studio art program that sits at the crossroads of practice and theory in the arts.

The MFA program immerses students in contemporary research and art practices while training them to become deep thinkers and artistic innovators. Students in this program will have their own private studio space and access to the exceptional facilities in the NYUAD Art Center, all while being mentored directly by faculty. You will also have the opportunity to connect with internationally renowned artists, curators, and art professionals while interacting with some of the world’s most influential museums, biennales, and art collectives.

The MFA program has collaborations with 421, Louvre Abu Dhabi, The Cultural Foundation, Sharjah Art Foundation, Maraya Art Center, Art Jameel, al Serkal Avenue, The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Yale School of Art, and receive weekly guests from an extensive roster of artists and curators. The MFA utilizes the UAE as a laboratory for learning with regular visits to art galleries, museums, symposiums and events across the country. Students also have the opportunity for teaching assistantships to further their academic careers, as well as extensive support for their art production including an annual grant for art materials.

We are looking for top quality students who are interested in this program, and we want to bring you here to see our campus, meet our faculty and students, and learn more about life in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We are hosting a MFA in Art and Media Weekend here January 31 - February 2, 2025 and we will cover the cost of airfare, lodging, and meals here in Abu Dhabi while you get to experience everything the program has to offer. This is a competitive application, as we will only be able to bring a limited number of people to campus.

There is a competitive process to attend the Applicant Weekend event. If you are selected, you will receive free travel to Abu Dhabi as well as accommodation and meals so that you can experience everything the program has to offer. This is a great opportunity for you to meet faculty and students, see the NYU Abu Dhabi campus, and learn more about life in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

NYUAD offers generous merit and needs-based funding that may cover up to 100% of your tuition and fees for this program. However, there are other expenses associated with completing a full-time graduate degree (travel, housing, living expenses). If you have questions about creating a budget for this program, please do not hesitate to contact our team.

PROCESS

In order to apply to attend the Applicant Weekend event at NYU Abu Dhabi, you must complete the two steps explained in the form below.
Event applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and applicants selected to attend the event will be contacted with more instructions and details about attending this event on the NYU Abu Dhabi campus.
We will assist you, if needed, in requesting a visa for your visit to the UAE.

You must complete two steps to apply for the opportunity to visit the NYUAD campus.

Start an admissions application: If have not started an application for Fall 2025, you must start a no-fee application. At a minimum you must provide your basic contact details, upload your CV, AND upload representative artwork to the Artist's Portfolio (instructions link).

You are welcome to complete and submit the application but you don't have to in order to complete your application to attend this event.
